“Perhaps we attach less importance to friendships... because it is so difficult to define them. Only love can claim a grand narrative. Friendships are associated with small narratives, with countless small narratives that are reluctant to follow prefabricated patterns.”
(Daniel Schreiber)
Friendships are the most important relationships in a person's life, and the void left by their disappearance is hard to fathom. We have spent far too much time singing the praises of romantic love. Time for songs about friendship and loss.
Director Sylvia Sobottka is at home between theatrical and performative forms. Humor and politics can be found in the nuances of her delicate approaches. Talaya Schmid is a visual artist from Zurich. Her often expansive, mostly tufted works are attributed with colorful eccentricity and body-theoretical subtlety. Hanna Plaß is an actress and musician; in her singalong format singsisysing in Berlin, entire rooms burst into song. Dramaturge Julia Reichert, also co-director at Neumarkt, is looking for new ways to bring people, art and the world together.
The last Neumarkt production under this directorship rolls out a playground. The piece moves between song recital, art installation, fairy tale for adults and random spontaneous choir.
