Vision

We want our profile to convey an openness which promotes diversity. To this end we take a clear stance, supporting locally, globally, socially, and terrestrially relevant topics and issues that reflect our own critique of these concerns and acknowledge theater as art and the institution of theater as a representation of society.

Our intention is to invite engagement through visions, positions, topics, and questions. We are convinced that every vision is born out of love for a cause, for human beings, for life, and for the world. And we know that one of the greatest challenges is to explore how the love of a cause can be conveyed and how stances and aesthetics can fertilize each other and go “viral.”

We believe that cultural institutions can achieve this, not by being elitist but rather by ensuring that participation occurs as a matter of course – without fraudulent labeling. We believe that theater as art and theater as an institution are principally suited to reach these goals.

We believe that theater as art and theater as an institution are principally suited to reach these goals. We play with what it means to be a theater and cultivate mimicry as a strategy and a subversive mirroring of the present.

The Neumarkt will be playground and think tank, cultural gathering place and multimedia laboratory. Taking place at this location will be theater productions, theatrical experiments open to the public, digital formats, and discursive series of events, occurring on an equal footing and intersecting in the programmatic and experimental setup, not strategically but passionately.
Agonistic pluralism.
Not canon, but contemporaneity.
No forced marriages, but rather passionate artistic affairs and love stories. No ivory tower, but a marketplace for ideas and inspiration. Infectious.
