My labour is for sale, like most people that have to pay their rent themselves.

What do you learn primarily in theater?
That repetition is a valuable practice. That audiences are a chorus of unruly affect that behave like weather. That taking risks on a stage with people you trust deeply is one of the most exquisite things in life that I have found. That the labour of performance is largely invisible and underestimated by anyone who hasn’t done it for a living. That thinking of dramaturgy as a neat equation is a bad religion.

What was the best advice you were given?

For what is it worth fighting for?
Class consciousness.

What are you devoted to?
My body, my body of work, my babes.

Biografie
Melanie Jame Wolf ist eine bildende Künstlerin, Choreografin und Autorin. Sie arbeitet solo und mit Freund:innen und inszeniert interdisziplinäre Stücke über die Ströme von immateriellem Kapital und Macht. Sie untersucht diese Ökonomien und Verstrickungen durch Projekte für Theater, Galerie und Bildschirmräume. Ihre erste Solo-Performance «Mira Fuchs» wurde 2015 bei den Tanztagen Berlin in den Sophiensælen uraufgeführt. Ihre jüngste Arbeit für die Bühne war «TONIGHT» (Sophiensæle, 2019). Ihre letzte Einzelausstellung war «Two Years Elapse Between the Third and Fourth Act» im Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2021).
